Base44 Hackathon: A Design-First Innovation Challenge
Empowering Creativity and Practical Problem-Solving
The NIAT × Base44 Hackathon was successfully conducted at Malla Reddy Technical Campus, A Constituent Unit of Malla Reddy Vishwavidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) in collaboration with NIAT (Nextwave Institute of Advanced Technologies) on 27-11-2025 at 10 am to 6 pm, with the objective of promoting innovation, creativity and practical problem-solving skills among students. The event was organized as a design-first innovation challenge, enabling students to conceptualize and prototype solutions without requiring prior coding knowledge.
The event was presided over by Mr. Sashank Gujjula, Co-Founder NIAT.
The hackathon emphasized the philosophy “Think. Design. Prototype. No Code Needed. Just Pure Innovation.” This approach encouraged participation from students of diverse academic backgrounds and helped them focus on logical thinking, user-centric design and real-world problem identification.
Understanding the Design-First Hackathon Approach
Unlike traditional hackathons that primarily focus on coding, the NIAT × Base44 Hackathon centered on idea generation, design thinking and prototype development using no-code tools. Students worked in teams to identify real-life challenges and translate their ideas into functional digital solutions.
Themes and Student Engagement
Participants developed projects across various impactful themes such as Smart Campus, Student Productivity, Health & Wellness and Community.
Impact, No-Code Applications and AI Concepts. These themes enabled students to address practical problems related to campus life, productivity, well-being and social impact through innovative digital solutions.
Impact on Students
The hackathon provided students with hands-on exposure to design thinking methodologies, teamwork and problem-solving in a time-bound environment. It enhanced their creativity, communication skills, collaboration and confidence in presenting ideas. The activity also aligned with experiential learning objectives and encouraged an innovation-driven mindset among students.
