Building English Language Competencies
to be future Ready

The session scheduled for the 1st Year B. Tech. students organized by Malla Reddy Technical Campus (Deemed to be University) on 09th August 2025 at Seminar Hall by 10.30 A.M. 

The speaker of the session is Mrs. Mrs. Jyotsna Deenabandhu Karri, Manager, Training L&D, Wissen Infotech, Hyderabad.

This session focus on self-awareness, build language fundamentals and confidence to speak. 

 Key takeaways from the session includes:

  • Orientation and diagnostic test: 

        An “orientation and diagnostic test” combines a general informational session with an assessment to evaluate skills, knowledge, before a new program, course begins. In education, diagnostic tests reveal a student’s existing understanding, while orientation provides information about the learning environment, allowing educators to tailor instruction to individual needs.

     The session helps to identify learning gaps, misconceptions, or areas where a student might need additional support, enabling teachers to personalize lessons and create a more effective learning experience.

  • Vocabulary Building Strategies:

            Effective vocabulary development strategies include reading widely to encounter words in context, actively using new words in writing and conversation, learning word roots and word families, utilizing graphic organizers and flashcards, engaging in vocabulary games, and consistently using technology such as apps and online resources for practice and repetition.

  • Grammer Essentials Review:

This part helps students in review of core grammar topics such as word order, punctuation, tenses, sentence structure, and parts of speech like nouns and verbs,

which form the foundation of clear and effective communication. 

Some of the concepts like parts of speech, sentence structure, punctuation, tenses, word order and common errors were covered in the session.

  • Sentence formation Practice:

          Sentence making practice involves students in understanding the basic structure of a sentence (subject + verb + object, if applicable) and then building upon that foundation with adjectives, adverbs, and various clauses. It’s about crafting clear, concise, and grammatically correct sentences that effectively convey your intended meaning.

Here’s a breakdown of how to approach sentence making practice: 

  1. Understanding Basic Sentence Structure
  2. Building Sentences with Different Elements
  3. Types of Sentences
  4. Practice Exercises (with activities)

Also Speaker covered basic communication skills includes listening, speaking (verbal), reading, and writing (literacy), along with essential interpersonal abilities like active listening, showing empathy and respect, and using clear, concise language. She explained that mastering these skills ensures effective information exchange through various methods, whether face-to-face, digital, or  in written form, fostering understanding and clear message delivery.

The speaker conducted various activities to make the participants to understand the concepts. Around 650 students participated in the workshop.
